save our jobs!!! It is very crucial that we communicate, as soon as possible, with state Representative Keith McCall. The wording on a new Pennsylvania massage therapy licensing bill is very restrictive and will prevent us from working on any impairment, meaning MT's can only do relaxation massage. No back, head, neck pain could be worked upon. This bill, if passed will affect MT practices in PA unless the language is changed. There is a big difference between having the scope of the law allow you to "treat soft tissue impairments for health and well-being", versus them having the very serious restriction in the restriction portion of the bill state "massage therapy does not include the diagnosis or treatment of impairment, illness, disease or disability." This restrictive language needs to be clarified, and on the advice of legal counsel the following sentence should be added after the restrictive sentence to thoroughly clarify what it is that we do as massage therapists. "except for the treatment of soft tissue manifestations of the foregoing" Make this request to State Representative Keith McCall's office in Harrisburg (717) 783-1375 or go to Rep. McCall's home page and send him a message at www.pahouse.com/mccall/ email: Kmccall@pahouse.net Fax: (717) 772-1231 |
